
Ko Tongariro te Maunga
The management of our environment and the way in which we are entitled to interact with it is an important role of the Trust Board. As an advocate for our iwi we aim to be the voice for those who do not yet have a voice at district, regional and national levels. This role is handled by the Trust Boards Resource Coordinator.
The Resource Coordinators role at the board is to
- Provide advice to the Trust Board on district, regional and national policies and issues of importance
- Provide cultural advice to external organisations on policies and other issues of importance
- Build capacity within Tūwharetoa by creating an awareness of these policies and issues
- Monitor legislation to assess its impact on Tūwharetoa
- Ensure that Tūwharetoa have the opportunity to provide input into legislation
The Resource Coordinator also assists in managing projects such as
- Developing communication strategies to keep our whanau informed on what is going on within our rohe
- Investigating how research science and technology could help improve our productiveness as an iwi
- Assisting marae and hapū with development projects
This role also provides office support to
- Develop and maintain our Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Help develop databases to manage our Tūwharetoa assets
- Work with other staff to maintain the Tūwharetoa website and other office systems
