Ngāti Tūwharetoa - Genesis Energy Committee
Overview:
After a lengthy consultation period between Genesis Energy and Ngāti Tūwharetoa, in 2000 the Tūwharetoa Trust Board (on behalf of nga hapu o Ngāti Tūwharetoa) and Genesis Energy signed an agreement to mitigation the on going impacts of the Tongariro Power Scheme on Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
An outcome of this agreement is the establishment of Ngāti Tūwharetoa – Genesis Energy Committee. The primary purpose of the Committee is to distribute the mitigation funds on behalf of Ngāti Tūwharetoa as per the objectives set out below.
This information sheet details the objectives as well as the funding criteria for those wishing to apply for funding assistance. The Committee meets at least every two months, to consider applications.
