Environment

The Tūwharetoa Trust Board, as a kaitiaki of Taupo Moana and its tributaries works in a myriad of ways to support the mauri of our taonga. The establishment of the Tūwharetoa Asset Management Unit in 2006 has seen many positive steps in promoting sustainable management tools and advocacy in the Ngāti Tūwharetoa Rohe.

Some of these projects like the Waiora Programme and the Hapu Environmental Management Plan (HEMP) project work directly with Ngāti Tūwharetoa hapū to support their kaitiaki roles. Others like the Taupo Moana Management Policy are specifically to guide decisions around Lake Taupo use for the Trust Board.
